DOWNLOAD   December 24, 2008: AAFCO Supports Funding of the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank (FARAD)

AAFCO President, Andy Gray, issues a letter to Representative David Obey, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee in support of the funding of FARAD. The House Appropriations Committee is currently finalizing their version of the 2009 Agriculture Appropriations Bill. AAFCO asks that the committee recede to the higher funding amount ($806,000) in the Senate version of the 2009 Agriculture Appropriations Bill.  The AAFCO Board of Directors acknowledges that FARAD is a valuable tool in assessing risk to food production animals due to exposure to unapproved livestock drug use and accidental or intentional exposure to pesticides and other chemicals and is worthy of sufficient funding.
