Committee chairs are planning presentations, speakers and agendas and would like your input. What topics do you want to learn about? What questions would you like answered? What speakers do you want to hear from? Submit your requests to the appropriate committee chair as soon as possible. Requests will be considered by each committee and added to the agendas appropriately.

Last month the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) issued "Guidance for Industry (GFI) #293: FDA Enforcement Policy for AAFCO-Defined Animal Feed Ingredients" to allow animal feed and pet food manufacturers to continue using ingredients published in the 2024 Official Publication (OP) for products sold in interstate commerce. The final guidance will ensure stability and continuity for our industry partners and state regulators during this transition period, and that the FDA acknowledges the OP as a comprehensive list of animal food ingredients recognized and adopted by most state laws. Final guidance from FDA regarding draft GFI #294: Animal Food Ingredient Consultation (AFIC) is still pending.

AAFCO's task force is reviewing comments from regulators and industry experts on the proposal to provide the scientific review for AAFCO’s new animal food ingredient submission pathway from Kansas State University’s K-State Olathe Innovation Campus. The task force will make its final recommendation to the board of directors in November. 

Interested in presenting at an upcoming AAFCO meeting or know someone who would be a great speaker for an AAFCO event? We are looking for experts for presentations, panel discussions and keynote speakers for future meetings, workshops and seminars. Speakers and presentations must be relevant to animal food in the United States. Submit a proposal, white paper, or draft presentation to the Event Planning Workgroup for consideration.

AFIA Launches Brand New Animal Food Safety Course
The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is offering a new online course, AFIA 600, designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to establish and maintain robust animal food safety programs. The course, running from November 12 - December 17, includes nine modules and is ideal for those seeking a deeper understanding of animal food safety or pursuing Safe Feed/Safe Food certification.
