Welcoming Dr. Megan Rooney as PTP Manager |
AAFCO is excited to welcome Dr. Megan Rooney as our new Proficiency Testing Program Manager. Dr. Rooney holds a Ph.D. in agronomy from Texas A&M University and brings experience in regulatory laboratory quality systems, proficiency testing, and feed safety. In this role, she will help build on the strength of AAFCO's internationally accredited Proficiency Testing Program by fostering collaboration, supporting laboratory excellence, and helping ensure confidence in analytical results across the animal feed and pet food industries. |

60th Annual Feed Administrators Seminar (FAS) Recap AAFCO Members recently wrapped up attending the 60th Annual Feed Administrators Seminar (FAS) in the beautiful coastal town of Westbrook, CT. This year's event was hosted by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, and attendance included the majority of state feed programs from across the U.S. as well as representatives from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
Discussions throughout the week included topics related to challenges with laboratory turnaround times, case studies and lessons learned in feed program enforcement, an overview of new research in ruminant nutrition, and many other productive conversations. The 61st Feed Administrators Seminar will be back in Connecticut in the spring of 2027, so be on the lookout for more details and plan to attend! |
Microbiology Fundamentals for Food Testing Workshop Planning to be in San Diego for the 2026 AAFCO Annual Meeting? Consider extending your trip for an additional educational opportunity taking place in San Diego after the meeting concludes.
The Microbiology Fundamentals for Food Testing Workshop, sponsored by the Association of Public Health Laboratories, will take place September 29-October 2 at the San Diego Public Health Laboratory and is designed for entry-level public health laboratory scientists responsible for bench-level food microbiology testing. This instructor-led, in-person workshop will help entry-level food testing microbiologists build practical skills in sample handling, basic testing techniques, documentation, and data quality.
